The Monarch Journey

Millions of monarch butterflies migrate across North Texas to Mexico's central mountains, particularly in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, to overwinter from November to March. This incredible journey is made by a "super generation" that flies up to 3,000 miles from the U.S. and Canada to the same forests, roosting on oyamel fir trees.They remain there until the spring, when they begin the journey north, laying eggs for subsequent generations that continue the migration and mysteriously find their way right back to their winter home.
